I'm not going to say that patents should be entirely eliminated, but I think this will speak tomes for why software patents should be eilminated.

Is there another way to provide the same feature? If not, the google guys should sit around and think of everything that can be done, then patent it.
Do patent lawyers understand enough coding to make arguments restricting competing technologies.
